I had a few hours to kill and have been experimenting with furling leaders this week. I decided to make up a handy dandy little jig for making furled Tenkara lines. I like to fish dry flies on Tenkara rods from time to time and have experimented with all sorts of Tenkara lines. The do-it-yerselfer in me couldn't resist making my own.
I only have one Tenkara rod- the Tenkara USA "Iwana" 11 foot- 6:4 rod. This line formula seems to work nicely on this rod with a 3-4' 5x tippet and small dry flies.I introduce to you "The Happy Trout Tenkara Line Jig" Since there are numerous sources on furling on the internet, I won't go through the details on how to furl, but merely want to provide a formula and jig. Click on the "Tenkara Furled Line Jig" tab to see a drawing and more pictures. Enjoy and don't hurt yourself!

I LOVE the jig. Most of us fly fickers have that do-it-yourself attitude and I am no exception. Especially if it saves a buck or two.
